Products
The Products page lets you manage products sold at point of sale: retail items, add-ons, and anything else you ring up directly.
Getting there
- Sidebar path: Sales → Products.
- Permission: the
productsresource. Admins with a restricted role may not be able to edit products.
The products table
The All Products card lists everything you sell, with these columns:
- Name and SKU
- Category: a badge, or Uncategorized if none is set
- Price
- Tax: the effective rate, marked Inherited (from a default) or Override
- Stock
- Status: Active or Inactive
If you haven't added anything yet you'll see No products found. Create your first product to get started.
Common tasks
Add or edit a product
- Select Add Product (or the edit icon on a row).
- Fill in the product details and save.
Delete a product
Select the delete icon on a row. You'll be asked to confirm: Are you sure you want to delete this product? This action cannot be undone.
Manage categories
Below the table, the category manager lets you create, rename, deactivate, and delete the categories that group your products. Active categories become the tabs on the Point of Sale screen; an inactive category keeps its products but has no tab. A category still used by a product cannot be deleted: move those products to another category first, or deactivate it instead. Category names are unique regardless of casing, so adding or renaming a category to a name already in use is refused with A category with this name or slug already exists.
View stock history
Select a product's Stock count or history icon to see its current stock and recorded movements, newest first. Load older movements pages through earlier entries; Refresh checks for recent changes.
Each movement shows the studio-local time, reason, signed count change and resulting balance. Tracking off means the product became untracked, not that its stock is zero. Starting balances and tracking changes set the recorded count; they do not represent physical items sold or returned. Historical opening balances may combine stock that existed before movement recording began.
This view is available with product read permission, including for inactive or currently untracked products. It does not change stock.
Set tax
A product's tax can be Inherited, or set as an Override on the product itself. An inherited product uses the sale location's rate, or the brand default when the sale names no location. Both are configured under Tax settings.
The rate shown in this table is the brand default, because a product's real rate depends on where it is sold. To see what a given location charges, use the location table in Tax settings.
Tips
- Keep products Active to show them at the point of sale; set them Inactive to hide them without deleting.
- Use the Stock field to keep an eye on inventory for physical items.
Use the Stock filter to find out-of-stock products, products with stock available, or products whose stock is not tracked. Combine it with category and name/SKU search. Inactive products remain visible and labeled, and their stock history remains available.
Identify low stock
Set an optional Low-stock threshold when creating or editing a product. Leave it blank to disable. A tracked quantity at or below the threshold is low, including zero. A threshold of zero therefore matches only out-of-stock items. The threshold is retained while stock is untracked and applies again when tracking is enabled. It never changes stock or whether the product can be sold.
Choose Low stock in the Stock filter to plan replenishment. The low-stock count follows the current search and category across all pages, independently of the selected stock filter. It includes inactive products, which remain labeled. Low-stock badges and counts are catalog information only; no notifications are sent.
